On September 7, 2019, Connor was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disease called Adrenoleukodystrophy or ALD. This brain disorder destroys myelin, the protective sheath that surrounds the brain’s neurons-the nerve cells that allow us to think and control our muscles. Childhood ALD most severely affects boys between the ages of 4 and 10. Because it is so rare it is not a disease that is screened at birth.
This event is being organized by Friends of Connor, Inc. (A nonprofit 501c3), formed to benefit COnnor, his family and to raise awareness of ALD.
We appreciate the support towards the Shipp family and support for our prior 5K runs that benefited the boy scouts.
